Monday, June 30, 2025 – Travel Day to Sugar Hill, Watkins Glen

Hi Sweetie!
Woke up even before my 6:30 alarm went off, got up and quickly notice a white horse out my window, way on the other side of camp! Apollo was up to his old tricks, pulled a post with his teeth, and took Flash on walkabout. No worries, it actually helped, I was able to take down the fence without having to worry about tying them up somewhere. I called them and they came running, then hung around at the door for awhile before finally wandering off again. I should have waited and called them when I was ready to load them, because by then, they were hiding in the woods and I had to go get them! I had no problem getting out of my site, though I did put a tarp down to keep the dew from making it too wet. Had an uneventful drive to Sugar Hill, with one stop at an Ambest truck stop, where the diesel was only $3.79, compared to $4.29 at the big truck stops further on. After perusing the grounds when I got here, I decided to try a different area, site 15, which backed up to the overflow area, where I was told last time I could have a fence. So I put up a highline AND a fence (since Apollo is back to his old tricks), so they could munch on clover and grass during the day, and on the highline at night. I arrived before 1:30, took awhile to get set up, with the complication that all of the water spigots are turned off, and the only place to get water is from the pump area by the bathrooms using both their hose and mine. I emptied my truck tank filling up the horses' buckets and the trailer, then filled up the tank from their hose, which should last me most of the week. Met my neighbors, one of whom is a young man that reminds me so much of my high school buddy Steve for some reason. We chatted, our dogs barked at each other, and I finally settled down for the evening. I have a decent signal here, so I'm hopeful I can finally get a little TV, though I watched my download of Night Sky tonight. A good, brief storm came through, dropping the temps significantly, so I'm looking forward to a nice cool night sleep! Good night, baby doll! Love you!
