Hi Babe!
Though I woke up early, I had a very relaxing day today. Finished getting caught up on my diary entries, then went down to the pool for about ninety minutes, having requested they do my room up while I’m gone, but unfortunately when I got back to the room, it hadn’t been done. The maid showed up a few minutes later, so I just got new towels and left the rest. Watched a few movies, read a bit, found the Facebook group for our rafting trip, and generally had a very relaxing day, never leaving the hotel. Just what I needed, I feel much more rested this evening! About time to turn off the light, read a bit and go to bed, so good night, my love!

Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 – Drive to Las Vegas
Hey Darlin’!
Couldn’t wait to get out of this place, there’s no charm to it whatsoever. The only thing I can say for it is that it had thick new towels. That’s about it. I had another bowl of cereal which I ate with my fingers, then packed up and headed out. The office was open when I left, and I asked for a refund, and she couldn’t even find the prepaid reservation I had made, so I’ll have to keep an eye on that to make sure it comes through my account. Headed out on another cloudless day. I stopped once to get gas in Kingman (gas was a lot cheaper there than in Vegas), stopped again to pick up some fried chicken at a truck stop (it was surprisingly good!), the stopped once more because I wanted to take the rest of the tour at the Hoover Dam. You remember when we came here together a few years ago, you couldn’t go on the guided tour because all the magnets would screw up your heart defibrillator, so I decided I had plenty of time to do it today, but unfortunately, the dam was closed, so the closest I got was to an overlook of Lake Mead. Will have to try that another day! Made a detour to the outlet mall to get some more underwear at the Jockey store, plus found some more thigh slimmers, the kind I like to use for riding that don’t have a middle seam, at Vanity Fair. I was amused at the number of kiosks down the middle aisle that are selling face masks. A lot were for football teams, which is hysterical considering most teams are playing without anyone in the stadiums! I would love to hear your take on all this pandemic stuff! Then headed to the hotel and checked in, unpacked, then ran out again to the grocery store for a few things. I ended up spending the rest of the day just reading, watching TV and napping, which was just fine with me, I need to recover from all the activity! Got a little caught up with my writing, but that’s about all I had the energy for. Heading for bed, not even taking a shower tonight! Good night, sweetie! Love you!

Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020 – Day Two of Rafting Trip, Then Pathetic “Ghost Walk”
Hi Baby,
Woke up a couple of times during the night, once because the nearly full moon came up over the edge of the canyon and lit it up like daylight. Seriously, it was like having a sodium parking lot light right overhead! I got a bit cold during the night, and for some unknown reason I didn’t pack my long underwear, which I had planned to do but guess considering the daytime heat I didn’t figure I needed it, wrong! But I did have a pair of stretch pants I put on and that helped. I DID pack a wool cap, but wouldn’t you know, I couldn’t find it until this morning, it was about the only thing I didn’t move from my dry bag outside the tent into my tent! Oh, well, I still managed to get quite a bit of sleep. Didn’t wake up until almost 6:15, the coffee was done and breakfast was well on it’s way to being prepared, so I got, did my ablutions and started to pack up my stuff. Was almost done by the time breakfast was ready, and I was way ahead of the rest of the gang, they all got up much later than me. Another delicious meal, scrambled eggs, big fat sausages and bacon, two kinds of potatoes, they even had fruit and yogurt, too. Quite the buffet! After breakfast we got all packed up, this time on the motorized launch, which we then rode all the rest of the way. We stopped once so folks could jump into the water a float down the river for a bit, but I hadn’t put on my bathing suit this morning, and frankly, the river was still too darn cold for me, so I passed, but I got some good pix. We stopped again later for a hike up to Columbine Falls, another beautiful spring that pops out into a side canyon, and passed by the Skywalk way above us, a ring that reaches out over the canyon, then finally to the take out point just east of the current Lake Mead. Apparently the lake has evaporated so much that the shoreline is ever-changing. The exit point was Pearce Ferry in any event, a much better and shorter gravel road before we hit the tarmac. I had originally thought we would get back early enough for me to catch dinner at the Grotto near the hotel, then a cave tour, then another cave tour in the dark known as “The Ghost Walk,” since the cave is apparently supposed to be haunted by the ghosts of Indians buried there in the past. My driver worked very hard to get me there in time for the Ghost Walk, and we pulled into the parking lot at the Lodge at 5:45, just about two hours from the river’s edge, which gave me just enough time to get back to caverns for it. Unfortunately, THAT turned out to be a big waste of time and money. I was hoping for an experience that was at least fun, or entertaining, or educational or informative, but I got none of those. Maybe I was just too tired, or maybe the others on the tour were just too annoying for me. There were two young couples, teenagers, who did nothing but giggle and be stupid girlie, with one girl declaring she was afraid of the dark. I asked her why she would go on a cave tour that was in the dark if she was afraid of the dark, but all she did was giggle. Sorry, giggly girls like that annoy me. The other member of the group was older, maybe in his late 20’s, and he was a clown, hanging way back behind the group and making moaning sounds and fake Indian chants, one time a scream. The leader of the group wasn’t very good, either. He spoke so fast you couldn’t understand anything he said, and he used this really cheesy radio voice that demonstrated how bored he was with the whole thing. We were each carrying little flashlights and a “Ghost Meter” that was supposed to indicate when ghosts were present, and after the clown in back screamed, the group leader claimed that it upset the ghosts and they were flying everywhere out of “Mystery Cave” where they apparently lived. I asked if there was so much activity, why no one’s Ghost Meter was blinking or moving, and all he said was he didn’t know. He kept trying to have conversations with the ghosts and getting no answer, but he’d take pictures on his phone camera with flashing lights moving that he claimed were ghosts, but I had my video camera going all the time, and never got the same result. It just looked like the lights from the flashlights moving around. Same with a voice recorder, he would play back something he claimed was just recorded and tried to figure out what they were saying, and claiming they were touching him all the time. First he said the ghosts loved him, then he said he’d never come down alone because they would kill him, the whole thing was ridiculous. I was really hoping for a serious foray into the supernatural, but never even got a decent story of who the ghosts supposedly were and why they were there. It wasn’t even decent theatre, which I would have at least appreciated. Definitely not worth the money. Afterward I sent back to the hotel to get checked in, and the office was already locked. The sign on the door said to ring for service, so I did, repeatedly. Nothing. Then I started honking my horn for ten minutes, nothing. Then I saw a sign saying check for keys at the back door, so I went back there and found several envelopes with keys on them, but my name wasn’t on any of them. I had prepaid for two nights, and it seemed I had no way to get into my room. There wasn’t enough cell phone signal to make a call, so I drove back to the caverns to ask about it, and 15 minutes later the “manager” called the caverns to tell me to meet me back at the room. I drove the mile back and found her smoking outside the door of the room, wide open, so now my room smelled like cigarette smoke. I got my key from her, then after she left I checked the refrigerator for the milk I had left behind (I had discussed this with her numerous times, and she promised to keep it for me, since they weren’t offering breakfast anymore), so I had to go searching for her in the campground. She didn’t want to go to the office, which is apparently where my milk ended up, so she arranged with the kitchen to give me a cupful of milk. All in all, it took me nearly an hour and a half after the Ghost Walk ended to get into my room, so needless to say, by that point, I was NOT a happy camper! I had booked the room for Monday night as well, but decided I would leave the next morning. The Fairfield in Vegas was new, had much better amenities, including a free breakfast, a TV with many channels (the TV here gets almost none), a pool and lots of restaurants nearby, whereas this place doesn’t even serve breakfast because of the pandemic, and the nearest town with a restaurant or grocery store was 30 miles away. No contest! I had a bowl of cereal which I had to eat with my fingers because my spoon disappeared and I wasn’t about to waste any more time trying to track one down, and it wasn’t long before I was in bed, exhausted! Good night, babe! Love you!

Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 – Day One of Rafting Trip
Hi Sweetie!
Up with the alarm, bright and early! Ate a quick bowl of cereal, finished packing, but couldn’t turn in my key because the office doesn’t open until 9:00. The woman at the hotel told me the group met in their parking lot, but the information the rafting people gave me was across the street from the Hualapai Lodge eight miles away, so I’m glad I didn’t listen to her! Arrived at 6:30 as requested, signed in, then froze in a very cold wind that was whipping through the parking lot. Glad I had put my rain suit on, it was the only thing heavy enough to keep me warm! I sat in the car until it was time to get the big dry bag, then put all my stuff in there. We headed out late because one couple was missing, but we finally left without them, and drove about an hour down a mostly rough gravel road to the “put in” point. There were several other boat groups there, including the one day rafting group, which was essentially just a large inflatable with a motor on it, and they ran the same trip, but with no paddling, just riding. I had spoken to a group at my hotel last night that were taking that trip, and I ended up seeing them there when their bus arrived long after ours. Their bus also brought the couple that had missed the first bus, so they had missed all the safety instructions and had to be taken through it again, further delaying our departure. Anyway, eventually our two boats were set and we shoved off. What a ride! Almost immediately after we headed out we hit rapids, with just enough time to get settled in to a rhythm. I was front right, while Jerome was front left, and we quickly got in sync. We went through a whole bunch of rapids, very thrilling! We came out fine, but we certainly did get wet! It had gotten hot, so I had taken off my rain jacket, so the cool water felt great! We stopped after a few hours at a place known as Travertine Falls, where we hiked and climbed on ladders up to a nice little falls. It’s amazing how dry it is in the desert above, then when you get down below there are all kinds of springs and green places. Not eastern forest green, but nice little oases that offer shelter from the heat in the greenery and falls. Anyway, we climbed that for a bit before getting back into the boats and going a bit further until we stopped for lunch along a little beach area. Then we headed out for the last two big whitewater rapids, which really got us wet as we sped through it. We stayed on track though, while the other boat spun around and ended up taking it backwards. What a rush! It was a blast! After that the river settled down, with just a few bits of fast water, until we stopped once again to check out a memorial tucked up on a rock about Separation Canyon. The first documented trip down the Colorado was in 1869, led by a guy named Powell, and at this point, three of his crewmates decided they didn’t want to risk the next set of rapids (they were supposed to be class XV!!), so they stayed behind. Supposedly if the Powell group made it to the other side, they would fire a gun to indicate they got through, but I can’t imagine even a gunshot would have been heard over those kinds of rapids. Anyway, the three didn’t follow, and apparently climbed out of the canyon at that point (too bad, they were only a couple of days from the end of the river!), and were never heard from again. There are various stories about their demise, the most popular being they were killed by Indians, though some believe the Mormons killed them, some think they never made it to the top at all, though I imagine their bodies would have been found by later searchers. Anyway, following that break we took to the water again until we landed on our beach for then night. We all pitched in and unloaded the boats, then headed out separate ways to set up our campsites, while our guides set up the kitchen that was soon to serve us a fantastic steak dinner, which even included a chocolate cake cooked in a cast iron pot! Before that, though, I got my tent set up above the kitchen, a bit away from the group, only because I found it to be more level than right on the beach. It didn’t take me too long to put up my little home away from home, and before long, I was joining the group in a card game known as Snap, which I don’t think I’d ever played before, but it was perfect because as many people could play as they wanted. Jerome had the foresight to bring a deck of cards, and though it was hard to play on the sand (no one thought to put down a blanket or tablecloth), but it was fun nonetheless. I actually won a couple of times! Dinner was served, and naturally, it tasted fantastic, like all camping meals in remote places, and after dinner I performed my poem, which everyone seemed to appreciate. Again, it felt great to do it in such an appropriate atmosphere, especially the part about the stockwhips waking the echoes, “and they fiercely answered back from the cliffs and crags that beetled overhead.” By then it was getting dark, and we did a little star-gazing, but we were too deep in the canyon to see the ISS flyover I was hoping to see. Headed to bed just after that, about 8:00, to read for a while. What an adventure! I hope you’re enjoying it with me, my love! Good night!

Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 – Mule Ride Back to South Rim, Drive to Peach Springs
Hey Darlin’!
Who would have thunk that the ride up would have been so much easier than the ride down? Well, on us humans, anyway, though it didn’t seem to bother the mules much either! Got up before dawn, carried my day bag down to the corral in the dark, then got back to the canteen in time for breakfast, scrambled eggs, pancakes and some nice plump sausage, then we were back in the saddle before 7:00 and heading up the trail. Normally they would take a loop around the South Kaibab Trail, but because of complications with transportation due to the pandemic, we had to come back up Bright Angel again. Of course, any trail rider knows that it’s a completely different ride coming and going, and this was no different. Honestly, babe, of the thousands of miles I ridden on horseback, this ten miles was the most stunning, bar none. We made out way back easily, and even though it was the same time and distance, it just felt so much shorter. I was so sorry to see it end! I spent a bit of time with Wesley, gave him some apple and some more mints as we said good-bye, and he was quite loving toward me, which I appreciated. Absolutely unforgettable! Afterwards, I found the car, ate a few sweets I had accumulated from the meals, and headed out to Peach Springs to the Grand Canyon Caverns Inn, with a stop at Safeway for a salad for dinner and some cereal and milk for tomorrow morning, since I don’t think they’re serving their usual breakfast here. Checked into the motel, they were nice enough to bring me a small refrigerator for my milk, then I repacked everything again for the rafting trip before settling in for the night. Another early morning tomorrow, I have to be 10 minutes up the road by 6:30, so I’m off for my shower and early bed. Out of touch until Sunday again! Love you, babe! Good night!

Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 – Mule Ride Down to Phantom Ranch
Hey Sweetheart!
OH. MY. GOD! Incredible. Fantastic. Indescribable! The only words I can find are the ones that express just how indescribable this trip was. I would have paid double. Unbelievable. I remembered almost every turn from our trip down there on Apollo and Clio. Where the tunnel was. Where that little Oriental girl screamed her lungs out when Apollo decided that right in front of her was a nice place to poop. Where we had to pull off to let an unexpected pack mule train go by. Where we stopped at the rest area (it was the 1.5 mile stop), rested, and turned around. That part was incredible, but it was NOTHING compared to the rest of the journey. Springs pouring out of walls from nowhere. Greenery you just don’t expect. Of course, the geological formations are stunning. This is the original definition of AWESOME, before it lost all its meaning with overuse. Here are the parts I can describe. They put me on a fabulous mule named Wesley, who turned out to be the one mule that didn’t need to be motivated to keep up. They used him to push the other mules, and he was always trying to move ahead. He had a wonderful personality, and as we got further along, he started to make this little soft grunting sound, almost like he was humming! It was hysterical. The trail was very narrow in many places, and some of the switchbacks were quite harrowing, but all I did was trust my mule! It was great. I found the most heartpounding was actually going across the suspension bridge, when Wesley still kept pushing the mule in front of him, so we were not quite in the straight line we should have been, but we made it, nevertheless! Breathtaking, every step of it! Phantom Ranch was much smaller than I expected, really just a few cabins, a mule corral, a canteen and a residence for the rangers and those who ran the place. The only cabin they had available on such short notice actually slept four, with two bunk beds, so I had a lot of room by myself. Well, not a lot of room, but it was quiet. It was much warmer down below, and I put on my swim suit and headed to the creek behind my cabin, thinking I was going to sit in it for awhile to cool off, and got as far as my ankles! I splashed my legs, but that was as far as I was going in, it was that cold! I see now why a rain suit is necessary for the rafting trip! Brrr! Afterward, I took our wrangler Tex’s advice and walked down to the ranger station to get a pamphlet that described an historical walking tour around the ranch, and took an apple down to the corral for Wesley as well, and the ladies were nice enough to sort Wesley out for me so I could give it to him. Then I went back to my cabin and took a nap before dinner. While we were gathered there waiting for the canteen to open for dinner (window service only), I showcased my Snowy River, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was quite stimulating to be able to perform that when the descriptions within it were so similar to the actual surroundings. One of the ladies remarked how when I pointed off to a “place” in the poem, they all actually looked off to that place! Guess your years of training rubbed off on me. Anyway, then we grabbed dinner, a HUGE steak with all the trimmings. My only disappointment was that there was no communal table to share, most folks just went back to their cabins to eat on their own or with their own group, though two guys from New Jersey stayed and ate at a picnic table with me, and we had a nice chat. Finally, I had to jump up and got take a shower, as they closed the shower house at 6:00 and it was almost that time. After my shower, I sat out on the bench outside my cabin and read for awhile, before finally heading to bed. Obviously, I didn’t take my computer down with me, so this is being published the next day, but I’m not going to include all of the scores of pictures I took (they just can’t do the place justice), just maybe a few highlights. I wish we could have done this together thirty years ago. Any reader thinking about doing it, DO IT!! Don’t wait!! It’s absolutely incredible! Love you, darling! Good night!

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020 – Day One at Grand Canyon
Hi Babe!
What a nice day! Beautiful weather, in the 70’s, I had a lovely breakfast at the El Tovar Lodge restaurant (though the service was quite slow for me, but few others. Folks that were seated just before me were served their meal before they even took my order!), but it was a nice breakfast, and I wasn’t in any hurry. Afterward I got on one of the shuttle busses that took me on a two-plus hour journey out to a place called Hermits Rest. There were nearly a dozen stops along the way at various overlooks with signage pointing out some fascinating historical points, and I spent time at every one. The buses ran every 5-10 minutes, just like a hop on, hop off bus in a tourist city. That took up a good part of the afternoon. When I got back to my room at the Thunderbird lodge I took a short nap, reorganized all my packing for the mule trip, then I went for an early dinner, again at the El Tovar, this time the service was excellent. They even let me special order a salad with some salmon on top, which was delicious, and some fantastic chocolate ice cream for dessert. Afterwards, I put as much of my stuff in the car as I could, only leaving out the bare essential so I won’t have much to do in the morning, Took my shower, now I’m heading for bed. So excited about tomorrow! Wish you were here! Good night, my love!

Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 – Drive to the Grand Canyon
Hey Honey,
After a good night sleep, a free hotel breakfast, and a little bit of computer work and repacking, I hopped into my little white Toyota (well, they consider a Corolla a full-size car these days, but I remember when they were considered a tiny compact import), and headed out. My first stop was Bass Pro Shops. Evidently I need a rain suit for the rapids, even in 100 degrees, and I considered going to thrift stores in hopes of finding one, but then I found one at Bass Pro Shops on clearance sale, so I called them to make sure they had them, and was reassured by several people that they did, in numerous sizes, but when I got there, I got the runaround, no one could find them, no one knew where they were, and when we finally tracked down the person I spoke to (after 45 minutes of wasted time), it turned out he was wrong, that the ones I specifically wanted they didn’t have. Grrrr! In order to make good on it, thought, the manager agreed to let me have the same brand but that wasn’t on sale for the clearance price, so I ended up with what I needed anyway, though the store lost a bunch of money on the deal. I also got a nice big fanny pack so I can have some essentials within reach on the rafting trip. I lost a lot of time, though, so I headed out of town, with one quick stop at Albertsons for sunscreen, wine and a few odds and ends, finally heading out of Vegas just after noon. Had an uneventful drive under a cloudless sky, arriving at the Grand Canyon right around 4:00. Parking was tough, and I couldn’t figure out where I was supposed to go to check in, but finally discovered that I had to go to a different building to register, so I took what seemed to be the last parking spot on the road and walked over. Got my room all set, then stopped at the mule ride counter to check in there, so now I have a proper itinerary and packing list, which will help. Jeremy was a big help, though. I was told I couldn’t wear a fanny pack, but if I had a lanyard I could wear my camera around my neck, and then he got me a nice soft rope off a bota bag that had leaked, (looks like the old leather wine casks of old, and which is the only water carrying device allowed on the mules apparently), so I could use that for my camera. Got that squared away, then headed up to the room to check it out, in the Thunderbird Lodge, and when I came back out to go to my car to bring stuff in, there was an open parking space right outside the entrance by where my room was! Jackpot! I quickly moved the car up, couldn’t have planned that better myself! Got my essentials in, but by then it was just a half hour to sunset, so I got my camera and phone and went over to the edge of the canyon to watch. I did a quick Facebook video, then took some pictures and a video of some little ground animal that was skirting on the edge of the canyon. Once the sun went down, I headed back to the room, helped my brother Jeff with an online purchase and return, then settled down for the evening. There’s no coffee maker in the room, so no Sleepytime tea, but I’m tired enough that I don’t think that will matter. I spent some time sorting out my stuff between the mule ride and the rafting trip, so I feel a lot more confident that I have everything I need for both. They gave me a small bag for my stuff for the mule ride, plus a packing list, so I’m good to go, and the same bag will come in handy for the rafting trip as well. Tomorrow will just be resting, maybe some walking around and exploring, we’ll see what I’m in the mood for. Been going non-stop for so long a quiet day will be a good thing. Anyway, I’ve had my bath and now I’m ready for bed. Good night, sweetheart! Love you! Wish you were here with me again!

Monday, Sept. 28, 2020 – Travel Day to Las Vegas
Hi Sweetie,
Woke up a bit before the alarm, got up and finished packing, got the trailer closed up and walked over to the trailer place across the street. Met up with the folks who will be working on it, William came over and I walked him through my priorities. In addition to the body work, I want him to adjust the slide, you know how it sticks, and being on my own, my only recourse is to tie a rope around the cupboard and pull on it enough to get it on track, and that’s a repair waiting to happen! I also asked him to look at the broken drain pipe. Figured if he can’t do the body work, at least he can get the rest of it done. One thing I don’t want to do is let all this stuff pile up, and frankly I’d rather pay from someone else to do it than me trying to figure it out. Anyway, he made a list, and I left. Lola and I went to a First Watch for breakfast, I had some time to kill before I met with Angela, it was okay, not as good as I remember from the one in Jupiter. Next I met with the family back at the plantation (it really does have a Tara type house on it!), and handed off Lola and all her stuff. Got to the airport in plenty of time, but it’s under construction and it was a mess getting around, especially with all my baggage. I finally managed it, then discovered both economy lots were closed, and the difference between the outside and inside parking wasn’t worth the walk, so I parked in the garage after I dropped off my checked baggage. I had to leave the truck for a few minutes, but it’s such a mess I’m not surprised no one hassled me about it. I forgot and put a brand new 8 oz. tube of suncreen in my carryon, so naturally they took that away from me, grrr. Got on the flight, and learned that not only would there not be food service (I made a couple of sandwiches because I knew that), they also didn’t have a beverage service! All I had was water I got from the fountain, and I only got that at the last minute “just in case,” so I’m glad I had it. No snacks, nothing. It was pitiful for First Class. In Dallas I was fortunate that my flight was only a few gates away in the same terminal, and it was a short turnaround (we came in a little late, too), but that was a better flight, at least I got a cocktail and a fruit and cheese plate. Don’t know why one flight had service and the other didn’t. At least we got in before dark. Then I grabbed the shuttle to the rental car place, only to discover that the rental car company I had booked with was at a different location and I had to take ANOTHER shuttle over to it, so it WAS dark by the time I left there. The line was long and slow at the counter, and then the car I picked didn’t have a full tank of gas, so they had to put more gas in it, all taking up more time. Then I finally arrived at the hotel, a new one near the office of where I’ll be working next week, and it took three tries to find a room with a bathtub, and it was on the first floor (ugh), only two doors away from the lobby (another ugh), but that was all they had, I was determined to have a bath, which I did shortly after getting settled in. I’m not even going to watch TV, I’m just going to read a little until I fall asleep and wake up naturally in the morning. All I have to do tomorrow is pick up some more sunscreen (and maybe some wine and Sprite) and drive out to Grand Canyon Village, which is a little over four hours away. I got a Toyota which is pretty comfortable, so it should be a nice drive. In the 90’s here today, actually cooler than it has been! So I arrived, safe and sound, but this hotel really is bare bones, there’s not even an electrical outlet by the bed, and the whole bath/shower figure was loose from the wall and leaked like a sieve, and apparently it’s practically new! Oh, well, this week it’s only one night, I hope next week I can get a room more to my liking, even if I can’t get a bathtub. Enough chat, time for bed! Good night, darlin’! Love you!

Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 – Packing and Prep for Trip
Hey Baby,
Despite the fact that I was totally sloping, I managed to sleep okay, but not great. When I got up, I tried to get the horses up for breakfast, but they ignored me. They have made themselves at home in a run-in shed in the near pasture, while all the rest of the horses were in another back pasture, I guess they figured it would be easier than trying to mix in, at least for now. I guess they’re getting plenty of grass, since they wouldn’t even follow me when I tempted them with peppermints! Oh, well, they’ll be safe and sound and probably fat and sassy by the time I get back. Had breakfast, did some more packing, wasted over 40 minutes trying to find my mammoth before I remember I put him in the brake controller box behind my chair. Finally headed out just after 11:00, got down to the Ag center across from the trailer place, backed up as out of the way as I could and unhooked, then started running errands. First to Sun & Ski to pick up some water sandals that the river rafting folks had recommended, a nice sturdy and expensive sandal, but I can see me wearing them a lot, and I managed to get the last pair in my size ON CLEARANCE, so it wasn’t as big a hit, yay! Then off to Tractor Supply to fill up with propane, cheapest price I’ve seen in a LONG time, just $2.29 a gallon. Then found a hair salon that was open and got my hair cut, then Walmart to do my last minute shopping, mostly for dog food and a few other assorted things I needed for the trip. Got back and did some more sorting and packing, but I’m running out of room! Hopefully I can get everything in okay, but it will be tight. Settled down for the evening feeling pretty good about my progress, though it’s going to be a long, busy day tomorrow. Then, just as I was getting ready to take my shower, I knocked my computer off the shelf and the monitor got really funky, crazy lines running all through it, and I was so mad at myself, the last thing I need is to have my computer go! Well, I was on the clock (I was doing my hair) so I jumped in the shower, and when I came out, the computer had rebooted and and was back to normal! What a relief! The only problem was that all the work I did last night to update my blog entries from the last reboot that erased it was gone again! I have no idea why it’s not saving my work on the blog, but apparently that’s a problem. Of course, since I uploaded it all to the website last night, it’s all intact, I just have to download it all, again. I’m just so grateful my computer started up okay, I’d hate to have to run around Vegas looking for a new computer, then waiting for it to download back from the server for two or three days! Don’t have time for that this week! Anyway, shower’s done, crisis is over, sleepytime tea has been drunk and it’s time for earplugs (I’m right next to I-65) and bed. Good night, babe! Love you!
