Friday, October 21, 2022 – Burned More Palm Fronds, Mowing and Buick Work

Hiya Darlin’,
Another good night sleep, must be the cooler weather! Got busy after chores this morning, having learned that the mowers were, in fact, coming today, so I spent most of the morning collecting palm fronds and and burning them in the nearest fire pit in the campground, till I had about six different fires going! But the yard looks a lot better, though I haven’t touched the paddocks yet. When the mowers came, I told them not to worry about the back paddocks where my horses were because they were doing a fine job keeping them mowed (although that means I’ll have to keep an eye on the encroaching ragweed), but to do the rest. It looked so much better when they finished! I ran into town, bought some dog food which was the only thing I was getting low on, picked up my fuel rail for the Buick at the post office, then went to NAPA for an o-ring and advice on the fuel injectors. The ones on the part actually look different from the ones on the Buick, so we discussed that I should probably change them out to be sure, and they gave me an o-ring, that was it. Got back to camp and piddle around with that awhile, till I had questions for Youtube (and I got answers!), then James came by with a bunch of little things that I had asked for, though he got several of them wrong so he’ll be going shopping again. Seems like I need to got with him to make sure they’re the right things! Finally settled down for the evening with another limited series, I’ve had my shower, now I’m heading to bed! Good night, baby! Love you!

Thursday, October 20, 2022 – More Post Installation, Busy Day at Camp

Hey Babe,
Had a good night sleep, up nice and early, and after breakfast I loaded up with a bunch of posts that I decided to put out on the red trail. Didn’t take too long, but I only have one more red arrow to make, and moving one post, and I should be done with it. I got back and had a quick lunch, then loaded up another bunch of posts to put on the Red and White trails, but once I got close, I decided the grass was too high and the water was too deep and I didn’t want to take a chance on getting stuck way out there. Figured it was wiser to wait for it to get a little drier. Got back to camp before 3:00, was met by a whole passel of campers that had come in while I was gone. Turns out there’s a big church group with nearly 30 men, plus a bunch more couples, so I spent the next hour or so just checking them all in and chatting with them all. More kept coming as well, so a busy day in camp! I had to warn them about a very large rattlesnake that I saw near by trailer, but I’m sure with all the activity, he probably cleared out eventually. Finally settled down after my last walk-through, dinner, a movie, etc. I’m liking getting to bed earlier, I just have to be more disciplined about it! So I’m off! Good night, sweetie! Love you!

Wednesday, October 19, 2022 – Yard and Pool Work at Glenn’s

Hey Sweetie,
Went to bed so early last night that I woke up bright and early this morning for a change! A cold front came through and it got down into the low 60’s, with high’s today only in the mid-60’s, so fall is definitely here! Got a little computer work done, then headed over to Glenn’s, with a stop at the Ace Hardware for some pool supplies. Put in a couple more bags of shock, though I was glad to see the pump was working full-bore when I got there. Even after circulating for a couple of hours, the chlorine level was way down. I don’t know how this salt water system works, only that it’s supposed to make chlorine, but I’m getting the distinct impression it’s not making any, period. There was no indication on the test strip that there is any chlorine in the pool, both before and after I added the shock, so I don’t know what’s up with that. I also got out the weed-whacker and the lawn mower, did some more post-hurricane palm frond pickup, then ran around the worst parts of the yard to tidy it up. Isn’t quite ready for a full mow again yet, but it all looked better by the time I got done. Meanwhile, in Houston, Glenn was doing somewhat better, though his body is in a bit of shock with the enormity of the surgery, but evidently that’s normal at this point. Should improve over the next few days. Got back to camp, fixed a leaky spigot in the barn, pulled some more ragweed (no mowers are coming in until all the palm fronds are picked up, not just here but in all the contracted properties!), so the weeds are starting to get a bit out of hand. Lola was very frisky all day today, no doubt the cooler temps have something to do with that. Cool enough for me to put the fireplace on this evening! Looking forward to a nice cool night with fresh air coming into the bedroom window tonight! Time for shower and bed, early again, especially now that the days are getting shorter in a hurry. Good night, my darlin’! Love you!

Tuesday, October 18, 2022 – Computer and Rest Day

Hiya Darlin’,
Slept late, still feeling tired, haven’t fully recovered yet. Spent most of the day on the computer doing all the followup work that comes with a workshop, which took most of the day. Finished off Outlander, which initially I thought there were only five seasons, but learned there are still two seasons to come, won’t be on Netflix until 2024, so I’ll have to wait for it. But dang if I’m not going to miss these characters! Strong women and even stronger men, and that leading man, Jamie. Whew! Anyway, planning on an early night, hoping to catch up on my rest so the rest of the week will be more productive. Brother Glenn was in surgery all day today, everything seems to have gone well, though he’ll be hospitalized for almost two weeks, apparently. Getting lots of attention in ICU, but hopefully he’ll be in a regular room in a couple of days. Fingers crossed he has a full recovery! Meanwhile, I’m heading to shower and bed nice an early, to read for awhile and catch up on my zzzzz’s. Good night, babe! Love you!

Monday, October 17, 2022 – Salvage and Pool Day

Hey Babe,
Slept on and off during the night, finally got out of bed after 9:30, still feeling lethargic and tired, but had things to do. Jeff called about going to the salvage yard, where I had hoped to find the part I need for my Buick, but unfortunately, despite scouring the whole yard, didn’t find anything compatible. He managed to find a few things for his Bronco. Then we met over at Glenn’s to try to deal with his pool. There doesn’t seem to be enough circulation, and we put a gallon of acid in to try to adjust the pH balance which was really off. Going to take some time to straighten out, I think. Didn’t get back to camp until almost 6:00, grilled a lovely big steak and settled down for some Outlander. Getting some rain as a front is moving through, supposed to really be a lot cooler over the next few days. Fall is here! Ready for shower and early bed tonight. Perhaps by tomorrow I’ll feel back to normal, I hope. Good night, sweetie! Love you!

Sunday, October 16, 2022 – Recovery Day

Hi Sweetie,
After my plane arrived early, I then lost all that time saved waiting nearly half an hour for baggage, grrr! Decided to spend the night at Jeff’s rather than go all the way to camp, so the room was nicely air conditioned, but I was so wound up, it still took me hours to get to sleep. Finally woke up a little after 9:00, didn’t spend much time there, got packed up and the horses loaded up and back to camp shortly thereafter. Got them settled in, then took a ride out to brother Glenn’s as he was having some problems with his pool, got that straightened out as best I could, then finally settled down in camp in the early afternoon. So exhausted! Binge-watched Outlander until I started napping in the chair, finally had some cereal for dinner (all the energy I could muster), watched a few more, now I’m heading for a quick shower and bed. Still exhausted! Always happens after one of these workshops, very intense, so very exhausting. Good night, my darlin’! Love you!

Friday, October 14, 2022 – Day Two of Workshop

Hi Darlin’,
Another great day, all went well, everyone was very complimentary, though I had to be tough on a few people that didn’t put in the work they really needed to do, as usual. Crashed afterward, splurged on a bourbon in my room and binge-watched Outlander all evening. My flight tomorrow isn’t until noon, so no need to get up early. Won’t be landing until midnight local time, though, so another long day of travel. Comes with the territory, of course! Just glad I’m still getting jobs like this, keeps my mind active and my bank account from depleting. Bedtime for me! Good night, babe! Love you!

Thursday, October 13, 2022 – Day One of Workshop

Hey Sweetie!
Had a great first day of the workshop today, I was on fire! Went really well, good group of 17, more than usual, but that made it even more fun. Glad to know this gal’s still got it! Crashed in the evening, as expected. Looking forward to tomorrow! Good night, my love!

Wednesday, October 12, 2022 – Relaxing Massage Day

Hi Babe,
Had a very leisurely day today. I was upgraded to the Concierge level, so breakfast was in a central room on my floor (the 12th), so I could take my time. Only trouble I had today was getting a ride to my massage. Uber was ridiculously expensive, ($32 for a four mile, 10 minute drive!), I tried to call a Yellow cab but they had a 45-60 minute arrival time, so I quick downloaded the Lyft app and was on my way in moments! Got there 20 minutes ahead of schedule (right on time to fill out paperwork), and had a lovely 90 minute massage by Joanna. She was young but she really knew her stuff. Got back to the hotel, checked on the meeting room, went down to the pool for a short time, ordered Indian food delivery for dinner (plenty of leftovers for tomorrow) and spent the rest of the evening binge-watching Outlander. Waiting to shower in the morning. Nice, relaxing day, just what I needed! Good night, my darln’! Love you!

Monday, October 10, 2022 – Another Travel Prep Day

Hiya Sweetie!
Had a decent night sleep, spent the day getting ready to move the critters over to Jeff’s. Packed up, put air in the trailer tires with the new compressor, which worked fine except the battery didn’t last very long, got hay out of the trailer in to the truck, and finally managed to round everybody up and move them over. I had to run into town, though, because Lola had lost her name tag, again, so I had to get a new one. Picked up a short hose, too, since Jeff’s hose is just a little too short to easily fill up the horses’ water bucket. Came back and got Lola settled in over there, then ran back to camp to finish packing and doing other essential ablutions in preparation for the big travel day tomorrow. Finished off Season Two of Outlander, I’m pretty sure we never got this far with it, I don’t remember a lot of this season. Anyway, think I’m just about ready to go, will be getting to bed very early, for a very early morning wake up call! Good night, babe! Love you!
