The day was windy today, so I was expecting a bit of trouble from Flash today, but hoping for the best, of course. I decided today to do one of my previous loops in reverse, heading out towards Cypress Creek first, where we reached the Mack Dairy Rd. Intersection just as a very large, old noisy truck arrived as well, and it kind of freaked Flash out a bit. I had to fight with him to get him across the road, even having to dismount to accomplish it in the end. We traveled quickly to the tunnel under Indiantown road, and continued through all of Riverbend, where Flash once again decided to rush his way all the way through it, almost all 4.5 miles of it. I almost get the impression there's something there that bothers him, maybe spirits from the old battlefield there or something freaky like that. I don't know, he just loves to go fast through there, don't know if it's because he loves it or hates it! He shied quite a bit because of all the waving palm fronts and windy litter that kept him anxious, and when we got to Jupiter Farms Road, he started to refuse to cross over the bridge, insisting on going across the road instead. Fortunately, the traffic around here is very good about slowing for horses, so once again I had to dismount and get him past the trouble spot. The construction was even more intense today, so I led him through it until we were clear of it, then finally mounted and headed back west along the canal. We once again did quite a bit of his nice cordo gait, so we made good time, and when we finally reached the crossover on Indiantown Road, it was clear of traffic and he was cooperative. In the end, the 15+ miles were done in less than three hours, so he's obviously getting fitter, as am I! A few chores and then we settled down for the evening.
Archives for 2019
Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 – Dialysis, Shopping, Busy
Refreshed after our (mostly) day off, today we had a lot of running around, shopping and dialysis to keep us busy.
Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 – Rest Day
Slept late after getting woken up early by a heavy rain storm, but fell asleep after it went through. Decided to take the day off, except for some laundry, finishing off Downton Abbey and watching the ends of a couple of NFL playoff games before heading off to bed.
Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 – Work and Dialysis
Got a call for Hubby to get an early chair at dialysis, so we headed out early, with a stop at Copley’s RV in Hobe Sound to theoretically pick up a part for my plumbing situation, but unfortunately, nothing they ordered was the right part, so that was a waste of time. Spent the whole session out in the waiting room trying to get caught up on some bookkeeping before we headed home, arriving in daylight for a nice change!
Wed., Jan. 16, 2019 – Regular Day
Started out with chores, then errands, then an appointment with an alternative medical specialist about my shoulder, then dialysis, then more errands. Ended up finding a fabulous tavern with Guinness on tap, which will now become my home away from home, as it’s only a mile from the dialysis center, and they have free wi-fi! Managed to get caught up on my blog while enjoying a fabulous salad and a couple of pints of Guinness. Now THAT’S living!!
Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 – Exploring The Hungryland WMA on Flash-11.09 Miles
Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 – Back to Reality
After an incredibly refreshing break, it’s back to the old grind! We left Melbourne Beach, taking A1A all the way down the coast just to see the sites (not to mention, our GPS actually said it was the fastest way!) stopping at the dialysis center to see if they might have an early chair (they didn’t), so Hubby and I headed straight home so I could pack up and mail out some books. Evidently, someone mentioned me on the HCTAA facebook page, and that set off a slew of orders, as it always does. They never let me talk about the book on their facebook page, always deleting me as soon as I turn up, but they allow all kinds of other people to constantly advertise their campgrounds. Never could get a straight answer why. I’ve even offered to pay them a commission for each order that comes in through their website, but they never answered me back. Anyway, I guess they can’t delete it when someone else asks if anyone knows how to get the book, can they? That took well over an hour to accomplish, then we headed back out to the dialysis center where I dropped Hubby off, then ran errands, including a stop at the post office, to kill the time. Got home late again, barely enough time to grab a little something to eat, watch a Downton Abbey or two (our current Netflix binge) and off to bed!
