Hey Babe,
I keep getting up a little earlier, and Rick keeps showing up a bit earlier, so he's always a bit ahead of me! Was finishing breakfast when he arrived with a great big trench digger, and after a bit of practice, it only took him a few minutes to put in the trench we needed for the power and water. Then he and Jerry ran back to the shop for PVC pipe, and before long we had that and the electric cable laid out. We dug the holes for two posts, then they all went out to lunch. While they were gone, I dug a couple more postholes, and then went to start my truck because I wanted to run it over the gravel area and try to tamp it down a bit, but my truck wouldn't start! I had noticed that lately it was cranking a bit longer before catching, but I didn't think I had that much of a drain on it, but apparently, I do somewhere. I got my jump starter out and managed to get it going, then I did run over the area a bit, which helped to tamp it down, then I parked my truck by the trailer and put my battery charger on it. It seemed to be down quite a bit. I checked and found out these batteries are about four and a half years old already, seems like it wasn't that long ago when I bought them! Hopefully, it's not the batteries going bad, at least, not yet. I unplugged the brake controller, I've noticed that's been giving me an error so it might be responsible, I'll have to wait and see. After a while, the guys got back, and they decided they were done for the day and left, so I spent the afternoon reading and working on my computer. Did my afternoon chores, dinner, TV, the usual evening, back to Eureka bingeing. Everybody's off tomorrow so there won't be anything happening here, except maybe they'll come and fix the tire on the tractor, so I made an appointment to get my eyes checked and to pick up hay, then I'm going to a meeting of a local group that's doing an event next month to see how I can help. Looks like a busy day, at least in the afternoon, so I may just sleep a little later in the morning! Anyway, we're making progress, albeit slower than I hoped, but I'll be moving soon, I'm sure. Good night, sweetie! Love you!

Thursday, February 11, 2024 – Site Clearing Day And More!
Hiya Sweetie!
Finally had a great, busy day today! Started the morning (after chores and breakfast) reading up on my rotary cutter, then finished scraping the adhesive off the bathroom and kitchen sinks, though I did it by hand, which was relatively easy. I have to wait for the laminate in the kitchen to dry before I can put a new layer of sealant one, so I just put my small fan on it for the day. Just as I was finishing that job, Rick showed up with a couple of his guys, and proceed to start taking down the trees for the new camp host site, so I helped with that. There was one lone pine tree that had been specifically planted for some reason, and we decided to move it, so I dug it up and moved it over, glad to finally be getting some exercise. After awhile, another guy arrived with this huge piece of equipment with a grappler on the front, and he proceeded to knock over the remaining stumps and a couple of full grown trees with it. He was a master, and a pleasure to watch work! By 3:00, they just about finished it up, and the site is going to be great! We’re going to let the rain we’re expecting on Sunday to settle down the sand a bit, then Rick will come back with a small tractor and a front end loader to do some leveling off, then they’ll be bringing in some dump truck loads of limestone and a grader to finish off the foundation. Only thing after that will be the utilities, and they evidently have someone scheduled for next Thursday. We’ll have to work out the logistics on that, so that I move on the same day, since they want to see where I’ll be before deciding exactly where to put the utility post. Looking good! I moved the horses out of the way, tying them to the small horse trailer, and they hardly blinked at the heavy equipment and all the activity. Good horses!! Once all the forest guys left, I got out my new off-brand Dremel and put it together with a cutter accessory, and proceed to take off the spikes off my improvised salt block holder, f/k/a bird suet holder. Did a fabulous job! Then I sanded it down a bit more to smooth out all the rough edges and took it out to the horses, who were back on the highline, and within minutes of putting it up, I saw Flash licking on it. So I guess that problem is finally solved! Seems like a lot of problems had been solved today! Tomorrow I’m hoping to finish off sealing the sinks, then I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Maybe go for a ride, since it’s been since Sunday that I’ve been out. I noticed a sign on the ground I need to fix, but otherwise, maybe it can be just for pleasure for a change! Anyway, it was a good, productive day today, ready for shower and bed! Good night, darlin’! Love you!
