Friday, July 31, 2015 – Crash Day in Caledonia

We both slept pretty late, suffering the after affects of our busy but very productive and memorable week. We’ve been recording a number of new summer series, so today we decided to makes some room on the DVR by watching a full series today. Very relaxing day, which we needed after so much activity!

Thursday, July 30, 2015 – Day Two with Client

Another long day, though we only worked until 3:00 today, as our client had a flight out in a few hours. We got much accomplished, and are discussing the possibility of us going to San Antonio to work with him next time, he has an important event next month that we agreed would be good to attend. That will be another interesting logistical challenge for us, but I’m certainly used to those by now! By the time we got back to the farm, we could feel ourselves start to crash, which always happens once a job is finished, and there’s nothing in our immediate schedule. Whew! What a week!

Wednesday, July 29, 2015 – Day One with Client

Had to get up early to drive to a hotel in Greece, west of Rochester, where our client has flown in to work with us. Had a long but very productive day with him, before heading back to the farm.

Tuesday, July 28, 2015 – Lunch with Cousins

Today was a reunion of a different kind, having lunch with two first cousins that, except for a very short time in a very large group 4 years ago, I haven’t seen since about 1964! Their mother and mine were sisters, but there was a lot of years between them, and they had a falling out back then that was never resolved, so we didn’t really ever get to know them very much. Anyway, we met them down at a lovely restaurant on the Erie Canal in Fairport, and despite the years, it became evident that their upbringing wasn’t that much different than ours after all, with many things in common. We managed to fill in some gaps in family history, and had a great time for over 3 hours! Who’d a thunk?! After lunch, Hubby and I stopped at the ice cream store next door and had one of the best frozen custards EVER! Nice and egg-y tasting, which I really like, before heading back to Caledonia. What an exhausting week, that’s not even close to over yet!

Monday, July 27, 2015 – Dinner at Nancy’s

Still not wanting to miss out on the time we had together, most of us headed to our friend Nancy’s house for dinner, meeting around 6:00, and chatting into the late hours before finally heading out. What a great time this has been, re-cementing all these old friendships! Can’t wait until next year, when I’m sure the group will be even bigger!

Sunday, July 26, 2015 – Friends Get-together at Honeoye

After yesterday’s reunion, we all decided to get together again today at another friend’s cottage down in Honeoye, a repeat of what we did four years ago at the 1st Annual Return to Pittsford Day, and again, we had a great time getting caught up. Naturally, Lola had to go swimming, and I even managed to get her to jump off the dock a couple of times, though she preferred to go in a the shore. She made friends with another friend’s lab, and everyone romped around. Stayed until almost dark again, getting home past 10:00. Long but exhilarating days!

Saturday, July 25, 2015 – Reunion “Return to Pittsford Day” Picnic

After getting up a bit early to prepare my macaroni salad contribution to today’s picnic, we headed out to Powder Mill Park, arriving about 12:30, early, but wanted to help my friend Steve however I could. Turned out there wasn’t much to do, but a number of other people had come just as early, as the class of ’73 decided to make this their entire reunion, and they had a pretty good turnout. It wasn’t long before a bunch more of my old friends showed, and in particular, one friend who now lives in Dallas who I hadn’t seen since about 1977! We started talking, and all the years melted away. It truly is amazing, how friends are friends even after all these years! I was truly fortunate to have a great bunch of folks around me in high school, and now it looks like I might have them around me again as we all get older. Almost everyone seems to want to retire, get an RV and see the country, so I suggested a Pittsford-Mendon camping club, where we all meet at various campgrounds whenever. Wouldn’t be surprised if that happens someday! Had a great time, stayed around till nearly 7:00, and the rest of the gang were there another couple of hours, but with our long drive back to Caledonia, we wanted to be back by dark. A really great day!

Friday, July 24, 2015 – Dinner with Friends

Had a good night’s sleep, and spent most of the day relaxing until it was time to meet some friends at a nice Indian restaurant in Rochester. A lovely evening, getting caught of on the lives of old friends is a kick! One we had just seen in Cleveland last month, and the other was another friend from high school whom she always stays with when she’s in town. We had a great evening! Didn’t get back until around 10:00, but had to settle down a bit before heading off the bed. A lovely evening!

Thursday, July 23, 2015 – Travel Day to Caledonia

Had a long drive today, so we got a fairly early start, having to take one detour around a section of Route 104 that was supposedly closed. Grabbed lunch at Orbachers in Williamson, then took the long swing around Rochester to get to Caledonia, with several stops along the way. Arrived just after 5, and shortly before the ladies who were hosting us arrived. This is a really cute little farm, and though it has a variety of fenced off pastures, several were populated with alpacas, but no horses, even though they have been advertising on craigslist for a boarder. After some spirited discussion, Hubby and I managed to find a mutually agreeable place to park the RV, and the horses were put away in a very lush pasture where they naturally rolled and ran and had a great time exploring before settling down to the business of eating. This should be a great place for Clio to fatten up, though we'll have to keep an eye on them, this is much richer than anything else they've had for a while. Hubby got the satellite dish up in no time, and I ran Lola around a bit in a clearing behind us before settling in for a nice quiet evening.

Wednesday, July 22, 2015 – Rest and Prep

Spent the day getting ready to move out tomorrow, getting in the last of the laundry and generally putting stuff away.
